The Setup: Why I Entered
So I was watching XAUUSD come down after that spike earlier. You see how price was sitting around 4,867-4,873 area? There was some solid support there—it’s a level we’d bounced off before. That’s your safety zone.
What triggered me was the EMA crossover. I had my faster EMA cutting above the slower one, and that’s your signal that momentum is shifting back up. Not a guarantee, but it’s the moment where buyers start stepping back in. That’s when I went long with 200 contracts.
The Entry Logic
I entered right around 4,873.675 because that’s where the EMAs kissed and price was respecting that support zone we identified. You can see on the chart—that lower green zone is exactly where price bounced. That’s the retest confirmation. It’s not some random entry; price actually came back to the level where it had already shown interest before.
Entry point: 4,873.675 (Buy 200 contracts)
Risk Management: The Stop Loss
My stop loss sits at 4,860.298. Why? Because below that, the structure breaks. If price closes decisively below that level, it means our analysis was wrong and momentum never actually turned. Better to take a small loss than watch it bleed further. That’s the whole point of a stop loss—it’s not pessimism, it’s respect for what the market is telling you.
The Target: Take Profit
Take profit is set at 4,886.058. This is where I expected resistance. When price gets up there, it usually hesitates because sellers come in. Could it go higher? Maybe. But your job as a trader isn’t to be greedy—it’s to take what the market gives you and move on. That’s a clean +755 pips on this trade.
What Made This Trade Work
Three things aligned:
- EMA crossover – The fast EMA crossed above the slow EMA, indicating buying pressure
- Support retest – Price came back down to a level it had already bounced off, showing buyers are interested at that zone
- Risk/reward was balanced – I risked about 13 pips to make 755. That’s a good ratio.
This isn’t me trying to be a hero. It’s just pattern recognition and waiting for confluence. When multiple things say “buy,” that’s when you act. When they’re fuzzy, you sit on your hands and wait.
